  1. Law keeps society in order. It's based on ethics and keeps people what others see as wrong. The golden rule of do on to others as you wish for them to do onto you inspires law. It also protects the rights of people to ensure fair treatment. Without proper law enforcement people would most likely have no reason to use ethical behavior and there would be no structure to society.

  2. The law is important because it maintain stability and justice according to a country's morality. Also the law helps to define the legal rights and responsibilities of the people.

  3. Explain the impotance of the law?

The importance of the law is to keep order in a society. Without the law there would be chaos, it would not be safe for people, animals, and even property, also there would be no consequences for these acts.

  4. Law, why is it important? Honestly, I am not eligible to answer this question accurately. However, in my opinion, law is important because it sets boundaries for our lives and/or actions. The law, as far as the United States of America, makes sure everyone has their own legal rights. I assumes that the law, at some point, was made to please us as individuals. Although, presently to me it seems like everyone and anyone has a problem with it. The law is bitter-sweet.

  5. law is very important today becausew it keeps our country in order day by day and it keeps u.s citizens as safe as possible. With out the law our country will be out of conttrol and in chaos. So the law is our main guidance every day in society , it is a necessity

  6. The Law is important because they are rules we go by and if there is no rules then it'll be no order to how we live.

    ReplyDelete
  7. law is important because it sets rules that people have to abide by. if there were no rules the world would be crazy everyone would do what ever they want with out any punishment for there wrong doing which would make the world a bad place to live in.

  8. Law is very important for a wide variety of reasons. First of all law in the foundation to a successful government. If we didn't have law then all of the country will break out into chaos or become a jungle. Also people seen to have a sense of safety when they know that their law system is protecting them. In other countries they are afraid to fall asleep at night but not in America. Also people who where harmed emotionally or physically because someone decided to break the law then they will get their justice and will know that the one who hurt them will get whats comming to them. Not only does law do all of those stuff, but it also lets people know that they are doing something bad and to stop. People will learn the limits, learn the boundries, and learn when to stop. I feel that without the law noone will be safe and people can kill everyone who looks at them the wrong way. So with all of that said and done law is very important to society.

  10. The law is very important for the world because it keeps the world from going into chaos. If there was no law it would be impossible for people to be treated fairly. Law allows americans to be able to not have to worry about whether or not they would have a fair trail in court. Law also effects the ecnonomy and protects citizens from capitalists who want to milk money out of people. The law gives us the ability to have freedom to do many things, such as freedom of speech, freedom to assemble and freedom for a militia.

Compassion is feeling for others and putting yourself into their shoes. Integrity is the whole princible of the action and thinking ahead. All of these traits us help lead to a better tomarrow because we will use them to make our decisions in life.

  19. what i learned in class today was the first amendment rights what i did not understand was how can the press have freedom to write what they want even before they make sure they have all of the right details

    ReplyDelete
  20. Today in class I learned about freedom of press and that you should be able to report what ever you want. Also I learned that the amount of money a company needs to pay can go down dramatically in civil court even if one agrees to the old terms. I didn't really understand the fact that you need permission to have a protest and wouldn't the government always say no? I also want to know how a town can get mad at someone because she was worried about the safety of he peers and the children of some of the peoples children.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Today we discussed and broke down the first amendment. We looked over 6 case studies that explained the first amendment more clearly. For example, one of the case studies asked how far we would go to publish a story in the newspaper according to the facts that were retrieved. The majority of the decisions that were made - in the real stories - were based on ethical decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  22. What I learned in class today was that the 1st amendment is the freedom of speech, freedom of the press, religion and the right to peaceably assemble. I also learned that when students come to school the 1st amendment still applies to them but only under the circumstances that the learning processes is not disrupted. What I did not understand was why school advisors have the right to censor certain things. I feel that if what the student is saying is true then it should be told to the school.

    ReplyDelete
  23. What I learned today in class was the first amendment rights and using them in different situations that may occur. What I didnt understand was how come we have to get things checked over before we are able to fully publish it and why is it that they have the right to tell us what we can say or not saying all for the image of something. If we can't tell the whole story then what's the point of publishing half of the facts.

    ReplyDelete
  24. In today's class I learned about the first Amendment and the freedom it provides us. I learned that when rights collide the goverment must solve it, I also learned about how doing the right thing can affect a case in court. For instance ABC news was reporting for the greater good and they were able to have the fines that they were charged with dramatically dropped. The topic that I did not understand was how it is legal for reporters to do some of the things they do. I thought that it was not allowed for police to search places without permits, so why can reporters do things like that.

  25. Literacy topic September 14, 2011

The greatest good, the golden rule, real-world ethics, and character traits play a role in ethical decision making. Which element guides your decision making most frequently and why?

    ReplyDelete
  26. The GOlden Rule helps me the most because I do not want people to fell bad because I do not want to feel bad. I always try to treat others the way I would like to be treated. So I always think before I do anything. I ask myself "would I want this to be said or done to me". If the answer is no usually do not do it. This is all about caring and learning that you are not always better than someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What helps my decision making most frequently is The Golden Rule because I try to think before I act to see the outcome of my actions. Not all the time I stop to think and because of that there are more bad consequences to my actions. The Golden Rule generally helps me make the best decision so no one is hurt at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The Golden Rule, most of the time guides my decision making because when I'm about to do something I think to myself "Would I want this done to me?" I follow this element because as the Golden Rule says, "Do on to others as you would want them to do on to you" and thats how I feel. For example, If someone ask me to borrow some money because they need it to take the bus home, I wouldn't mind because when I need money for that reason, I expect them to want to do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Life is all about making decisions. I often refer to the golden rule when making everyday decisions, because it somewhat sums up the other three choices. The golden rule is "treat others the way you want to be treated". In the midst of making choices I think, would I want this person to do or say this to me? If the answer is no, then i will obviously not go through with it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The golden rule.. The reason i pick the golden rule is people dont listen to it because some find (bulling) cool and its not. Making fun of kis and making kids do things they want to is not cool. Jus shows you want the same in return. Treat people the way you want to be treated

    ReplyDelete
  31. The real-world ethics help me with my decision making because I think about my future, the next generation, and so on. So when its time to make my decision I think about others and not just mayself.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Element that describes my decision makin i would have to say would be the golden rule. I feel if you treat people with respect they'll treat you with respect. But those that dont respect you shouldnt making

    ReplyDelete
  33. The golden rule guides my decision most frequently because I want other to be treated as I would want to be treated. I feel that it is essential for there to be equality when making ethical decisions because you need to think of what you might do that could affect someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Today I was not in class because I am apart of the Diversity Dream Team and today we had our first meeting. What I learned there was that when you see a person they are in a way like an iceberg. Only ten percent of an iceberg is above the water. When you look at someone you can only see about ten percent of that person and you have to, go under the water, to get to know the real them. There I also learned that sometimes as human beings we look at people and make assumptions of, who they are, how they are, and what they know. In some cases, assumptions are correct but there is still that ninety percent that we do not know about a person. What I did not fully grasp was certain strategies to use to make my school more aware of how diverse it really is.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Today in class, I learned how the dress codes that we have today came to be. There were two cases in which students felt that their first amendment rights were taken away. As a result of the cases, the dress codes for schools were modified and not as strict to allow the students to express themselves. What I did not understand was that if the way you dress is a way of expression, then why is it that some schools have uniforms? If there was a situation, where a student that wears a uniform did not want to wear the uniform because it was in violation of the first amendment and it went all the way to court who would win? The student or the school?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Today I learned that the first amendment covers all of the Web site that are made and people can not penitalized. If the Web site says something about a school using their opinion then they can not get in trouble by the school. I did not understand was why did a school actually suspend a student for what he did. The school knows about previous cases and they know that they will be going to court. If they win or lose they will never really win.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Today I read an article that showed how some schools actually function. It was saying how an athlete at a highschool was charged with assault but was still ablet o play in 5 football games. Now normally, that athlete would not have been able to be included in the games. However, the principle made sure that he could. What i didn't understand today was why the principle would let that student athlete play in any game after he was chraged with assault.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Today in class I learned how the Tinker Case was able to affect many student cases that came after it. We saw how the Tinker Case could have helped in a case of freedom of speech, and that unless what is being said or done does not effect the school then the individual can not be reprimanded. I did not understand why School administrators felt that they could punish the student.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What I learned today in class is how to work with a peer and coming up with a decision together by giving our views on a topic. There was not that much done today where there was anything I didn't understand, but I was wondering why the teacher got so disturbed when the media decided to get involoved?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Today in class we worked in groups on a project to make a decision on which we stand with a certain scenario. I learned that if a school does not sponsor a newspaper they cannot tell them what to add or take out, however the school does not have to allow the students access to the newspaper at the school. What I didn’t understand was why some people felt that it should have been brought to legal matter because all the principle had to do was to not allow the Web site to be accessed from the school.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Today I learned taht if you are a minor then your name can not be used in the paper in it is associated with a crime. I did not understand how a school can fail someone because they got suspended. The school knew what would happen to the student's future and how it would affect his life after high school.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Today in class, I learned the different views of my peers on certain cases. It was interesting to hear the real case, and how one school had their attendance policy set up. There was not much that I did not understand, we went over the cases, discussed, and shared our opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Today in class I learned the different decisions you can make based on different problems that can occur, it was very interesting to hear my peers point of views on how they feel about each decision that needed to be made. But most of the time we all agreed on the same answers on what's the right thing to do and how the others don't work. There was nothing today that I really didn't understand because everything I didn't understand got answered in the class discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Today I learned that the Supreme Court can choose what cases to take that have someone v. the United States. I do not understand why the house of representatives get voted every two years. They get no time to do anything.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Today in class I learned about the Constitution and how the Amendments put a force on the law. I also learned about what it takes to want to become a Senate or President. It seems to require a lot but in the end it's worth it. What I didnt understand was how come in the civil war when amendment three was broken what happened to them ?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Today I learned about the consistitution and about the laws that were removed from the constitution, and I learned about how the house of representatives only had two years before they had to run an election again. I did not understand why HOR only had 2 years be in congress.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Today in class I learned that certain things in the Constitution had to be taken out because now all people are equal and back then Indians did not matter and minorities were considered fractions of people. I understood just about everything and if I had a question I asked it and received an answer for it so I am in pretty good understanding of the Constitution right now.

    ReplyDelete
  48. i understood that the president can only be president for 4years along with his vice president.(article 11)
ididnt understand why members of congress dont have to be born in the united states but the president does.????

    ReplyDelete
  49. Today I learned that it takes a few years to have a quick trial. They act like it was going to be only a few months but it was not. I do not understand about the whole he was remorsful so he should be able to be set free.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Today in class I learned about the other Amendments and different types of movies that involves around the amendments. I also learned about the the two different cases in Georgia with the black guy that got excuted for something he didn't do, verses the white man that admitted that he did kill the store clerk based on drugs and he didn't get killed. What I don't understand is why does Clarence always seem to not do justice right by both people races and not siding with the whites. I really enjoy the class discussions that we have. It's really interesting to hear my peers point of views.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Today I learned that quick trials take quite a long time. I also learned more about double jeopardy and how you can't be tried for the same crime in the same court. I did not understand why some people who were innocent were killed.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Today was the best class so far. Today I learned about quick trials and how they take a long time, also about death penalties. We discussed the Troy Davis case and how many people are very upset that he was killed but the other guy who admitted his crime was let off.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Today in class, I learned that the Fifth Amendment protects us from double jeopardy meaning that we cannot be convicted of the same crime in the same court. I also learned that with the Fifth Amendment you do not have to testify against yourself. Today we spoke about cases that happen now and the process of them and how they are at times unfair. We spoke about the Death Penalty and why some people do not like the Death Penalty. It was a very good class we spoke about movies that relate to the Amendments like “Double Jeopardy”, “A Time to Kill”, and “Law Abiding Citizen.” Because it was a discussion I was able to ask questions if I didn’t understand.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Today in class I learned taht there was only one amendment to ever be fully destoyed. I do not understand why would alcohal be banned in america anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  55. What I learned today in class was Texas is discarding people who are sentenced death/executed their last meals. Many people that were sentenced to be executed were ordering ridiculous meals and didn’t acquire to eat all of the food. Although one man did but two hours after he was finish eating, he was executed. I also learned about the rest of the Amendments and how they make up our Constitution such as Amendments 8, 9, 10 and so forth. Not to mention, how the 18th Amendment was rebuked but repealed by the 21st Amendment all upon liquor. What I didn’t understand was why Texas would let the people order those crazy meals knowing they wouldn’t be able to finish half of what they are ordering?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Today I learned in class about the many amendments that have happened since the conception of the constitution. I also leanred about the death row in Texas and how they would give death row people any food they wish. I did not understand why Texas would listen to some of the death row inmates redicolous demands.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Today I learned about the next 10, or so, amendments. One amendment that stuck in my mind was the 13th amendment. Which, to sum it all up, abolished slavery. What i didn't understand was why did it take 61 years for that amendment to be made?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Today in class I learned that if something happens to the President and the Vice President has to take over they can be in office for up to ten years which is more than what a President normally serves. I also learned that in many states when a person is on Death Row they get their choice of a last meal. However, because many people have taken offence to this Texas will no longer give the choice of a last meal. It was a discussion that I enjoyed having, because of having a discussion I was able to ask questions if something was unclear to me. For example, if the President is serving his/her last term and for the last two years they are hospitalized they cannot run again even though they were not able finish half of their last term.

    ReplyDelete
  59. i learned that if i dont pick it up im goin to fail this class so its time to get in game mode #nodaysoff
i didnt understand all the how im so unfocused on my school work-SMH

    ReplyDelete
  60. Today I learned more about the amendements and how they effect my life. For example if it was not for the twenty-sixth amendment I would not be able to vote when I became eighteen.

    ReplyDelete
  61. today in class i learned what fereralism means, it means the share of power between stat and national government

    ReplyDelete
  62. I watched a video to increase my knowledge of the constitution of the United States. I learned alot more about each of the amendments. I learned that the Article 1 is the legislative brandh, the 2nd is the president, and the 3rd is the juditial branch. I do not understand why North carolina had a law that if you kill one person, no matter what, they will get immediate death sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Today in class i learned about the the two different cases in Georgia with the black guy that got excuted for something he didn't do, verses the white man that admitted that he did kill the store clerk based on drugs and he didn't get killed. What I don't understand is why does Clarence always seem to not do justice right by both people races and not siding with the whites.

    ReplyDelete
  64. What I learned today was another method in learning by watching videos and getting a more in depth reasoning about our amendments and constitution. I also went on to quia to do some games to help me get ready for my quiz tomorrow. What I didn't understand was how come Franklin being the president for 4 terms became a problem and now the president can only serve 2 terms?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Today I learned about common laws and statues. I learned how statues are laws that are passed by the government while the common law is a set of laws made by the courts. I also learned that Administrative agencies made from the government are able to make their own laws. I did not understand why there is a federal statue.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Today I learned that there are only three females that are currently on the supreme court team. There are a lot more males than there are females. I do not understand how they got $75,000 for the minimum for a case to go civil. I feel it should be $15,000 instead.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Today I learned more about the supreme court. I learned that the people on the supreme court can stay on it for their entire lifetime as long as they don't get dementia, etc. I also learned that there are three tiers in the federal court. I did not understand whether cases that were about the constitution only was about the national constitution or if it was talking about states individual constitutions.

    ReplyDelete
  68. i learned in class that we will be having a debate as a class and decide who will win.i didnt understand why we're having the debate on tuesday and not wednesday.
